Olympic Forest Initiative – Tree Plantation Campaign
The district level inauguration was held at S.R.V. Government L.P. School, Elampalloor on 19th June 2026. The programme was jointly inaugurated by Smt. Sindhu Gopan, President, Elampalloor Grama Panchayat & Adv. Shibu Prabhakaran, President, Kollam District Olympic Association. The programme was attended by Shri.R. Jayakrishnan, Secretary, Kollam District Olympic Association, Dr. K. Ramabhadran, Vice President, Shri. T.C. Anilkumar, President, Radiomukku Residents Association, Shri. Perumbuzha Gopan, Adv. Babukutty Pillai, Smt. Sindhu Teacher, Headmistress, S.R.V. Government L.P. School, Students, teachers, sports volunteers, local residents, and members of various sports organizations. The Association announced that tree plantation activities would continue in educational institutions, sports centres, public spaces, and community locations throughout Kollam district until the target of 2,036 saplings was achieved. The programme received enthusiastic participation from students and local residents, making it one of the flagship initiatives of the 2026 International Olympic Day celebrations.
Kollam District Olympic Karate Tournament
As a prelude to the International Olympic Day celebrations, the Kollam District Olympic Karate Tournament was organized on 23rd and 24th May 2026 at SMD Public School, Punthalathazham, under the joint auspices of the Kollam District Karate Association and the Kollam District Olympic Association.
International Yoga Day Celebration & District Yoga Tournament
As part of the International Olympic Day 2026 celebrations and in observance of International Yoga Day, the Kollam District Olympic Association, in association with Yogasana Kollam, organized the District Yoga Tournament and Yoga Day Celebration on 21st June 2026. The programme aimed to promote the importance of yoga as a means of achieving physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional balance. The event also reinforced the Olympic philosophy of encouraging healthy lifestyles and holistic development among people of all age groups. The Tournament was inaugurated by Shri.R. Jayakrishnan, Secretary of the Kollam District Olympic Association. The inaugural function was presided over by Shri. Santhosh Kumar, President of Yogasana Kollam. The welcome address was delivered by Shri. Jishnu V. Gopal, Secretary of Yogasana Kollam. The Tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from yoga practitioners representing various clubs and institutions across Kollam district. Participants displayed remarkable skill, discipline, and dedication, making the event a meaningful celebration of fitness and wellness.
District Kabaddi Tournament
The District Kabaddi Tournament was organized on 21st June 2026 as part of the International Olympic Day celebrations to promote indigenous sports and encourage greater participation among young athletes. The Tournament attracted 16 teams representing different parts of Kollam district and neighbouring regions. Throughout the day, spectators witnessed highly competitive and spirited matches demonstrating teamwork, discipline, determination, and sportsmanship.
District Rifle Shooting Tournament
The District Rifle Shooting Tournament was jointly organized by the Kollam District Olympic Association and the District Rifle Association on 21st June 2026 at the Indoor Shooting Range of Ashramam Hockey Stadium. The Tournament was conducted with the objective of promoting shooting sports in the district and providing a competitive platform for emerging shooters. A total of 48 athletes from various parts of Kollam district participated in the Tournament.
Olympic Quiz & Painting Competition
As part of the International Olympic Day 2026 celebrations, Kollam District Olympic Association and with the support of Kadappakkada Sports Club, organized the Olympic Quiz and Painting Competition for school students on 22nd June 2026. The programme was designed to create awareness among students about the Olympic Movement, its history, ideals, and values, while encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and active participation in sports related educational activities. The event received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of students from schools across Kollam district participating enthusiastically. The competition was formally inaugurated by Smt. Saritha S., Traffic Sub-Inspector, Kollam, who commended the initiative for promoting Olympic values among young students and emphasized the importance of sports in shaping responsible and healthy citizens. The Quiz Competition was conducted by Dr. Saju S., who served as Quiz Master and Judge.
Olympic Day Rally
The International Olympic Day Rally held on 23rd June 2026 marked the grand culmination of a month long International Olympic Day celebrations organized under the leadership of Kollam District Olympic Association. The rally emerged as one of the largest Olympic Day celebrations ever organized in Kollam district, bringing together nearly 2,000 participants from different sectors of society in a united demonstration of commitment to the Olympic Movement and its core values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect. The event highlighted the district's collective commitment to promoting sports, physical fitness, youth empowerment, environmental responsibility, and social harmony. The rally commenced from the KSRTC Bus Stand, Kollam, and concluded at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, covering a prominent route through the heart of the city. Before the commencement of the rally, an energetic Zumba fitness demonstration was presented under the leadership of Ms. Sin Josephine George and the team from Karuthal Centre. Participants included representatives from, Affiliated Sports Associations , Schools, Colleges and Universities, District Sports Council, Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centres, Student Police Cadet (SPC), National Cadet Corps (NCC), Youth Organisations, Kerala Police, Local Self Government Institutions, Government Departments, Coaches and Physical Education Teachers, Athletes and Sports Clubs, Volunteers and Members of the public. The rally concluded the month-long celebrations on a highly successful note and stands as one of the most memorable sporting events organized by the Kollam District Olympic Association.
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷന്റെ ആസ്ഥാന മന്ദിരം “ഒളിമ്പിക് ഭവൻ” ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു
കൊല്ലം: കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷന്റെ ആസ്ഥാന മന്ദിരമായ “ഒളിമ്പിക് ഭവൻ” ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷൻ പ്രസിഡന്റ് അഡ്വ. ഷിബു പ്രഭാകരന്റെ അധ്യക്ഷതയിൽ ചേർന്ന യോഗത്തിൽ, ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട തൊഴിൽ വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി അഡ്വ. ബിന്ദു കൃഷ്ണ ഉദ്ഘാടനം നിർവഹിച്ചു. ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷൻ സെക്രട്ടറി ആർ.ജയകൃഷ്ണൻ സ്വാഗതം ആശംസിച്ചു. ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട കൊല്ലം കോർപ്പറേഷൻ മേയർ എ.കെ. ഹഫീസ് മുഖ്യപ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട ജില്ലാ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഡോ. ലതാദേവി (മുൻ എം.എൽ.എ) മുഖ്യാതിഥിയായിരുന്നു. ഇളമ്പള്ളൂർ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റ് സിന്ദു ഗോപൻ, കടപ്പാക്കട ഡിവിഷൻ കൗൺസിലർ പ്രഫീൺ കുമാർ, ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷൻ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഡോ. കെ.രാമഭദ്രൻ എന്നിവർ ആശംസകൾ അർപ്പിച്ചു. ജില്ലാ ട്രഷറർ എസ്. വിജയൻ നന്ദി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി. ജില്ലയിലെ കായിക പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളുടെ ഏകോപനത്തിനും കായിക സംഘടനകൾക്ക് കൂടുതൽ സൗകര്യപ്രദമായ പ്രവർത്തന കേന്ദ്രമൊരുക്കുന്നതിനും “ഒളിമ്പിക് ഭവൻ” സഹായകരമാകുമെന്ന് ചടങ്ങിൽ അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷൻ ഫിസിക്കൽ എഡ്യൂക്കേഷൻ ടീച്ചേഴ്സ് മീറ്റിംഗ് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു
കൊല്ലം: കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ജില്ലയിലെ ഫിസിക്കൽ എഡ്യൂക്കേഷൻ അധ്യാപകരുടെ യോഗം 2026 ഫെബ്രുവരി 23-ന് രാവിലെ 10.30-ന് കൊല്ലം റെഡ് ക്രോസ് ഹാളിൽ നടന്നു. ജില്ലയിലെ കായിക വികസന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ കൂടുതൽ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനും ഫിസിക്കൽ എഡ്യൂക്കേഷൻ അധ്യാപകരും കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷനും തമ്മിലുള്ള ഏകോപനം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനുമായി യോഗം സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. യോഗം പ്രാർത്ഥനയോടെ ആരംഭിച്ചു. കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷൻ സെക്രട്ടറി ജയകൃഷ്ണൻ ആർ സ്വാഗത പ്രസംഗം നടത്തി. വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഡോ. കെ. രാമഭദ്രൻ അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ചു. പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഷിബു പ്രഭാകരൻ യോഗം ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. വിശിഷ്ടാതിഥിയായ റവന്യൂ ജില്ലാ സ്പോർട്സ് & ഗെയിംസ് സെക്രട്ടറി പ്രദീപ് കുമാർ എസ് കായികരംഗത്തിന്റെ വളർച്ചയിൽ ഫിസിക്കൽ എഡ്യൂക്കേഷൻ അധ്യാപകരുടെ പങ്ക് നിർണായകമാണെന്നും സ്കൂൾ തലത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള കായിക പരിശീലനമാണ് ഭാവിയിലെ മികച്ച താരങ്ങളെ വളർത്തുന്നതിന് അടിസ്ഥാനമെന്നും അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു. കെ.എ.ടി.എ. (കേരള എയ്ഡഡ് സ്കൂൾസ് ടീച്ചേഴ്സ് അസോസിയേഷൻ) ജില്ലാ പ്രസിഡന്റ് അജിതകുമാരി എസ്, ജില്ല സ്പോർട്സ് കോർഡിനേറ്റർ സ്മിത മാത്യു എന്നിവർ ആശംസകൾ അറിയിച്ചു. യോഗത്തിൽ കായിക വികസനത്തിൽ ഫിസിക്കൽ എഡ്യൂക്കേഷൻ അധ്യാപകരുടെ പങ്ക്, കൊല്ലം ജില്ലാ ഒളിമ്പിക് അസോസിയേഷനുമായി ഏകോപനം, ജില്ലാതല കായിക പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യക്ഷമമായ നടത്തിപ്പ്, ഭാവി പ്രവർത്തന പദ്ധതികൾ തുടങ്ങിയ വിഷയങ്ങൾ വിശദമായി ചർച്ച ചെയ്തു. തുടർന്ന് നടന്ന ഓപ്പൺ ഫോറത്തിൽ കായിക അധ്യാപകർ സജീവമായി പങ്കെടുത്തു. ജോയിന്റ് സെക്രട്ടറി സാബുജാൻ, വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് കെ. മനോജ് കുമാർ, എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് അംഗം സി. സുനിത, കായിക അധ്യാപകർ എന്നിവർ സംസാരിച്ചു. ജില്ലയിലെ സ്കൂൾ തല കായിക പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ കൂടുതൽ സജീവമാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങളും അഭിപ്രായങ്ങളും യോഗത്തിൽ ഉയർന്നു. എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് മെമ്പർ വേണുഗോപാലൻ നായർ നന്ദി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി. ജില്ലയിലെ വിവിധ സ്കൂളുകളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഫിസിക്കൽ എഡ്യൂക്കേഷൻ അധ്യാപകർ യോഗത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ജില്ലയിലെ കായികരംഗത്തിന്റെ പുരോഗതിക്ക് ഈ യോഗം ഒരു പുതിയ തുടക്കമാകുമെന്ന് സംഘാടകർ അറിയിച്ചു.
